Exam Repeat cover is available for a €50 supplement. This can be selected under the Insurance section of the application.
GAA cover is available for an extra € 100* supplement. This can be selected under the Insurance section of the application.

All J1 Applicants will have to attend an interview with the US Embassy in Dublin. This will cost $185* payable to the US Embassy directly. Please see the link below with more information on your US Embassy interview.

DS2019 - Please print your DS2019 from your US Sponsor Account. Please ensure you sign and date this at the bottom of the page in blue ink only. (Keep this document safe after the interview as you will need to present it to Customs & Border Protection at the airport and other authorities in the US.)

One colour photograph. Glasses are not allowed. It must be less than 6 months old, 2 inches square (50mm x 50mm), ideally taken by a pharmacist or photo professional.
US Government regulations require consular officers to assume that all non-immigrant visa applicants are intending to immigrate to the US. You are responsible for proving to the consular officer that you plan to return home after completing your J1 exchange experience.
A letter from a Course Coordinator / Head of Department stating your intent or confirming that you will be returning to full-time education following your J1 and continuing with at least one more year of full-time study. This must lead to a degree or higher qualification. OR a letter from a bona fide employer offering a full-time position on your return from the US.
