  2. INSURANCE

    SAYIT J1 Insurance policy  - Included in Programme Fee

    (Inc. Baggage, Social Security Cover & Scheduled Airline Failure Cover)

    Exam Repeat cover is available for a €50 supplement. This can be selected under the Insurance section of the application.

    GAA cover is available for an extra € 100* supplement. This can be selected under the Insurance section of the application. 

    * Training no more than twice a week for a maximum of 4 hours in total and playing no more than once a week (Insurance FAQ point 7)

    SAYIT Insurance is mandatory for all J1 bookings. Insurance Product Information Document HERE

  3. US EMBASSY, DUBLIN APPOINTMENT BOOKING SERVICE

    All J1 Applicants will have to attend an interview with the US Embassy in Dublin. This will cost $185* payable to the US Embassy directly. Please see the link below with more information on your US Embassy interview.

    Check lists for student attending US Embassy in Dublin & European Erasmus, Northern Ireland, UK are available in SAYIT student portal.

    You must bring to the US Embassy the following documents:

    •    DS2019 - Please print your DS2019 from your US Sponsor Account. Please ensure you sign and date this at the bottom of the page in blue ink only. (Keep this document safe after the interview as you will need to present it to Customs & Border Protection at the airport and other authorities in the US.)

    •    DS-160 Confirmation Letter (Instructions on how to complete your DS-160 form will be on your tracking account). 

    •    Your valid passport

    •    One colour photograph. Glasses are not allowed. It must be less than 6 months old, 2 inches square (50mm x 50mm), ideally taken by a pharmacist or photo professional.

    Final Year Students Only!

    US Government regulations require consular officers to assume that all non-immigrant visa applicants are intending to immigrate to the US.  You are responsible for proving to the consular officer that you plan to return home after completing your J1 exchange experience.

    A letter from a Course Coordinator / Head of Department stating your intent or confirming that you will be returning to full-time education following your J1 and continuing with at least one more year of full-time study. This must lead to a degree or higher qualification. OR a letter from a bona fide employer offering a full-time position on your return from the US.

    Please note:

    •    The US Embassy releases passports to one central DPD Depot in Dublin. If you can not collect your passport from this depot, you will need to pay an additional fee to have your passport released to your home address. This can only be done at the time of booking an appointment.
  4. POSSIBLE ADDITIONAL ADMINISTRATION CHARGES THAT MAY BE ADDED TO YOUR APPLICATION

    Please see below the other possible administrational charges that may be added to your account.

    DS-2019

    •   In the case where you change employers and/ or employment dates after your DS-2019 has been issued, but before attending US Embasy a reprint fee of €60 will be added to your account.

    Change in Programme types:

    Changing from Job Placement to Self Placement

    •    Any Job Placement applicant who changes from Job Placement to Self Placement will have their Programmme Fee changed to the corrected Programme Fee valid on their request date (received by email ONLY) plus an administrational fee of €50 will be added. (Any applicant who was submitted to InterExchange, can not have their programme changed until they submit a valid job offer to us.)
    •    After a DS-2019 has been issued for a Self Placement position, you are not allowed to change to Job Placement.

    Changing from Self Placement to Job Placement

    •    Any Self Placement applicant who changes from Self Placement to Job Placement will have their Programmme Fee changed to the corrected Programme Fee valid on their request date (received by email ONLY) 
    •    After a DS-2019 has been issued for a Job Placement position, you are not allowed to change to Self Placement.
