INSURANCE
SAYIT J1 Insurance policy - Included in Programme Fee
(Inc. Baggage, Social Security Cover & Scheduled Airline Failure Cover)
Exam Repeat cover is available for a €50 supplement. This can be selected under the Insurance section of the application.
GAA cover is available for an extra € 100* supplement. This can be selected under the Insurance section of the application.
* Training no more than twice a week for a maximum of 4 hours in total and playing no more than once a week (See FAQ point 7)

US EMBASSY, DUBLIN APPOINTMENT BOOKING SERVICE
SAYIT J1 offers an Appointment Booking Service to those applicants who would like us to organise their US Embassy, Dublin Appointment for them. To book your appointment through SAYIT J1, please email j1visa@sayit.ie and we will add the US Embassy Fee of $160 plus an administrational fee of €50 to your account. Once payment has been received a link will be sent where you can enter your availability to attend.
Please note:
- The US Embassy releases passports to one central DPD Depot in Dublin. If you can not collect your passport from this depot, you will need to pay an additional fee to have your passport released to your home address. This can only be done at the time of booking an appointment.
- You do not have access to change your appointment. All changes can only be done by SAYIT J1 during working hours.

Embassy Appointments Booked through SAYIT J1
- In the case where you need to change your US embassy appointment and are unable to provide proof of a doctors letter/ medical certificate to explain why you are unable to make your set appointment, a change fee of €50 will be added to your account.
- In the case where you do not show up at the US Embassy, a change fee to reschedule your embassy appointment of €50 will be added to your account.
DS-2019
- In the case where you lose or damage your DS-2019, a reprint fee of €60 will be added to your account.
- In the case where you change employers and/ or employment dates after your DS-2019 has been issued, a reprint fee of €60 will be added to your account.
Change in Programme types:
Changing from Job Placement to Self Placement
- Any Job Placement applicant who changes from Job Placement to Self Placement will have their Programmme Fee changed to the corrected Programme Fee valid on their request date (received by email ONLY) plus an administrational fee of €50 will be added. (Any applicant who was submitted to InterExchange, can not have their programme changed until they submit a valid job offer to us.)
- After a DS-2019 has been issued for a Self Placement position, you are not allowed to change to Job Placement.
Changing from Self Placement to Job Placement
- Any Self Placement applicant who changes from Self Placement to Job Placement will have their Programmme Fee changed to the corrected Programme Fee valid on their request date (received by email ONLY) This option is now closed.
- After a DS-2019 has been issued for a Job Placement position, you are not allowed to change to Self Placement.

COVID-19 POLICY & UPDATES
If due to COVID-19, there is a travel restriction and as a result you cannot travel on your J1 2023 Programme, SAYIT J1 will offer you a refund of all payments you have made on your booking less an administration fee of €95*.
Please see below what determines a travel restriction:
- Department of Foreign Affairs Travel advisory against travel the to the USA within 14 days of your departure date.
- Full border closure or restrictions specific to the visa you are entering the country on.
- US Embassy restrictions or closures due to COVID-19.
- Visas are not being approved due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
What doesn’t constitute a COVID-19 travel restriction:
- If you have already departed for the USA and/or arrived in the US and the Department of Foreign Affairs introduce a travel advisory
- Local quarantine rules. Quarantine plans are currently in place in many states and countries with ever-changing conditions. SAYIT J1 will inform you of the current quarantine conditions in your travel destination prior to travel.
- Additional costs for COVID-19 tests and quarantine.
- If you cannot travel due to a positive COVID-19 test or are asked to quarantine by the Irish Government. SAYIT J1 will offer a free date change wherever possible.
- If you decide not to travel for any reason our standard terms & conditions will apply.
*Note: 3rd Party Fees may not be refundable in the following circumstances:
- Insurance:- If your policy has been issued for over 14 days
- SEVIS Fee:- If your DS-2019 has been issued
- US Embassy Fee:- If your US Embassy appointment has been booked and you have/ or have not attended.
