J1 2020 Programme Status
There is no change to the status of the SAYIT 2020 J1 programme as per below.
SAYIT J1 Status Update 14th March 2020
We have this morning been advised that the US State Department has temporarily suspended the J1 visa programme until May 11th. At present the suspension has no affect on your current application. The Irish J1 programme start date is May 15th. We expect the J1 programme to continue as planned starting May 15th. We will, of course, update you with any information as we receive it.

We recommend that all J1 applicants go online to www.dfa.ie and www.hse.ie websites for reliable and accurate information regarding the COVID-19 virus.

When you start college the J1 is the first thing you start dreaming about. It’s almost like a rite of passage that you get such an amazing opportunity. I saw people in the year ahead’s photos and just knew I had to go, I had to have that experience. I was sick of the routine of working in my part time which would have ended up being full time for summer. If I was going to work full time why not do it in America? I wanted a change of scenery and to make new memories with new people. I wanted to broaden my horizons and push myself past my comfort zone.
