Newport is a city found on the east coast, in the smallest state of America, Rhode Island. This is a lively and popular summer spot. Newport is located 45mins from Providence and approx. 1 hour from Boston City. Newport is a small city so bicycles are used by most people. See the guide here. A fantastic place to work as a sailing instructor! Known as the Ocean State, Rhode Island is framed by 643 kilometers of coastline with seafaring traditions, uber-fresh seafood, pristine beaches and endless fun on the water. Moving inland, this nature lover’s paradise promises all manner of outdoor activities, from bouldering to hot-air ballooning. Add to that its depth of Colonial-era history, year-round events and trendy culinary options – not to mention proximity to Boston and New York City – and Rhode Island is an enviable destination.

Accommodation

Many employers in Newport will provide accommodation along with your job. If searching for accommodation independently, be sure to start your hunt early. A tip to remember is by law you are only allowed 5-unrelated people living in one house or apartment in Rhode Island! 

Brewer St. is a great place to live with lots of students and it is right in the centre of Newport near all the shops, restaurants and bars. The main street of the city is Thames St. so any street located off it would be ideal e.g. Anne St., Brewster St.  The Broadway and Memorial areas are also popular.

It is advisable to avoid anywhere in Middletown as it's too far away!
