Your wage depends on your age. Summer camps call it pocket money due to the fact that you essentially have no bills to pay while at camp.
Your accommodation and food is all paid for, so the money you earn is for you to use however you please. Most students use this money to travel around the USA after camp has ended.
It's free to register, so what have you got to lose? Apply on the Camp America website.
Once you've completed enough of your application, a notification will appear to tell you that it's time to sort out your interview. This deposit is non-refundable.
Camp America has hundreds of interviewers available worldwide, but you will need to organise and pay for any travel to your interview.
Some mandatory costs that aren't included in program free are:
Garda Vetting - normally free in Ireland
Medical - anywhere from €0- €60, depending on your doctor. If you have a regular doctor, you can request the paperwork and they will most likely leave it at the desk for you to collect free of charge.
Visa - Once you have accepted your placement and your police check and references have been verified, you will receive a ‘Placement Pack' from Camp America which will include your all important Visa Paperwork and instructions on how to apply and book your Embassy appointment. The fee of $160 is set by and paid directly to the American Embassy. This fee is subject to change and is non-refundable.
Applications are made via the Camp America website, and payments can be made there.
