POSITION AVAILABLE: J1 Social Media & E-Shot Executive

For over 50 years, Shandon Travel has been one of Ireland’s leading travel companies, offering specialist and unique travel experiences. Through our youth travel division, SAYIT (Student & Youth Travel), we have been helping students travel for over 25 years and are Ireland’s leading provider of the J1 USA Visa programme for college students. We are now seeking a creative, enthusiastic and digitally savvy J1 Social Media & E-Shot Executive to join our team on a 1-year contract.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about travel, social media and student engagement. The successful candidate will support the promotion and growth of the SAYIT J1 programme through social media management, content creation, student communications and email marketing (e-shots). The role will focus on engaging the student market, growing brand awareness and supporting student recruitment through creative digital marketing.

Key Responsibilities:

Social Media Management

Assist in managing and growing the SAYIT brand across all social media platforms including:

• Instagram
• TikTok
• Facebook
• LinkedIn
• YouTube vShorts

Create engaging and relevant content for the student market including:

• J1 travel tips
• Visa information and updates
• Student testimonials and experiences
• Competitions and campaigns
• Countdown and deadline reminders
• Behind-the-scenes and day-in-the-life content
• Create, edit and schedule video and graphic content for digital channels.
• Stay up to date with social media trends and identify opportunities to increase engagement and reach.
• Monitor social media interactions and assist with responding to messages and student queries.

Email Marketing / E-Shots

Create, prepare and schedule engaging student email campaigns (e-shots).

• Develop engaging email content to support the student journey and encourage applications.
• Maintain email databases and support segmented marketing campaigns.
• Track campaign performance including open rates, engagement and click-throughs.
• Assist with communications to:
  • Prospective students
  • Current applicants
  • Pre-departure students
  • Students currently in the USA

Content Creation & Brand Promotion

• Create digital marketing content including graphics, short-form videos and promotional materials.
• Assist in sourcing student-generated content, blogs, testimonials and travel stories.
• Support competitions, promotions and student engagement initiatives.
• Work with the marketing and J1 team to support seasonal campaigns and key sales periods.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Third-level qualification preferred (Marketing, Communications, Media, Business or related discipline desirable).
• Strong interest in social media, digital marketing and content creation.
• Excellent written communication and copywriting skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Friendly, enthusiastic and professional manner.
• Creative mindset with an understanding of the Gen Z market.
• Experience using Canva, Meta Business Suite, TikTok, Instagram and email marketing platforms desirable.
• Video editing and content creation experience an advantage.
• Previous J1 experience beneficial but not essential.
