Ocean City is a resort town in the state of Maryland between the Atlantic Ocean and Isle of Wight Bay. It's about a 2-and-a-half-hour drive to Washington D.C. or Balitmore city from Ocean City. In summer, the 10-mile stretch of free Atlantic Ocean beach features swimming, surfing, boogie boarding, surf, fishing and other pursuits.  There are 2 full-scale amusement parks, mini golf courses, and a 3-mile ocean-front boardwalk (the main shopping district and entertainment area of the town) loaded with shops and restaurants. The Beach Bus is a great way to get around Ocean City. It costs $4 a day and you can take unlimited trips. During the summer months this bus is very frequent it runs approx. every 15 minutes. 

Accommodation

Accommodation is in good supply here. Nowhere from 1st street to about 120th street is more than a five-minute walk from the beach, so it's a great destination if you're looking to spend the summer on the shore. To be close to the boardwalk, and where most J1 Students stay, you want to live between about 3rd and 30^th street. There is a Walmart and a shopping centre a short bus ride away for your shopping and groceries.

Job Hunting

There are lots of summer jobs available here! Plenty of restaurants around the city employ J1ers as waiters, hosts and bus boys. Just remember that you may need to be over 21 to get a job waiting tables while there's no age restriction for hosts or bus boys.
